Government steps to keep applying militaristic approach to reduce the turmoil in Papua lately, very unfortunate.
"Whereas on the other hand the President has the right to form a special envoy for Papua dialogue, including the Presidential Working Unit for Development Acceleration in Papua," said activist Usman Hamid Contrast via short message received Legal, Monday (31/10/2011).
Government uses militaristic approach as in the case of a strike of employees of PT Freeport Indonesia and the dissolution of the Papuan People's Congress. According to Usman, the approach is not really necessary. It was given the threat in Papua is still a threat to public security or public order or safety of citizens, including members of the police shooting case.
"The military approach is needed when there are threats of harm national security or real threat to national security of the salvation of all nations, territorial sovereignty, or there was an insurrection and a coup by force," commentator Usman.
However, he said it condemned the shooting remained in Papua police chief and demanded the state to immediately arrest the perpetrators to be tried in court. But in fact, continued Usman, far more politically only without accusations-accusations followed authentic legal evidence.
"And it will not be able to touch the root of the problem is the violation of the dignity of the people of Papua and economic criminality behind the conflict in Papua," he explained.
